Good morning,Hornell City School District voters have officially approved a forty-nine-point-eight-million-dollar budget for the upcoming academic year. The community greenlit the spending plan, which features a nearly eleven percent spending increase alongside a modest two-point-nine percent tax levy hike. Voters also approved a proposition authorizing the district to purchase the twelve-acre Maple City Park from the city.Meanwhile, a historic trend has been upended in the surrounding Southern Tier. While Hornell's budget sailed through, residents in the neighboring Cuba-Rushford and Randolph school districts took the rare step of completely voting down their proposed school budgets. Local school boards must now completely reevaluate their fiscal plans or present a modified proposal to voters next month. And a long-time local educator and Hornell High School graduate has been tapped to lead a neighboring school system. The Hinsdale Central School Board has voted unanimously to name Scott Carroll as the rural district's next superintendent. Carroll will officially assume control of the district on July first.More news on our radioNOVO app -- Codi Gaboff, radioNOVO News, a service of Seven Mountains Media.
